To some people The Quinlan Visual Arts Center is a building on Green Street they pass every day or it’s the place they send their children during the summer for art camp, but to the local artists and art lovers of Gainesville, it is a non profit organization that has allowed people to learn and create as well as showcase artwork since 1946. At my time at the Quinlan I have been able to meet hundreds of passionate artists, including photographers, as well as learn more about art as a business. Since I have such a strong passion and interest in Photography, my mentor Paula lindner has allowed me to apply my passion to my internship and capture the events and art pieces at the Quinlan. Interning at the Quinlan has opened my eyes to the world of artist. I now understand how selling artwork through a gallery can be difficult, though with the strong desire and passion for art, it is worth it. The goal of my research is to prove that happiness does not strictly come by making money, but by living out passions.
